Current Turbine Project Portfolio

BIS' reputation of having talent that is dedicated to the windpower & wind energy industry is growing rapidly throughout the United States and pressing further. The highly experienced windpower teams of BIS are positioned on projects in "Southern and West Texas".

In Southern Texas, we are performing inspections of parts and performing gearbox changes on the ground. In West Texas, we are performing gearbox changes up-tower without removing the wind turbine rotor and using an enormous 650 ton crane.

The payoff of our detailed inspections: Prevention and assuring components are free of any defects prior to transport to site. Upon arrival to site, the already inspected components are swiftly erected and retrofitted as necessary.

Tech Blog, Gearbox purpose: As wind strikes the wind turbine's blades, the hub rotates due to aerodynamic forces. This rotation is then sent through the transmission system to increase the revolutions per minute. The transmission system consists of the main bearing, high-speed shaft, gearbox and low-speed shaft. The ratio of the gearbox determines the rotation division and the rotation speed that the generator sees. This rotation is finally sent to the generator for mechanical-to-electrical conversion.
