Green Practices

As a major provider of industrial support services, BIS Salamis is highly aware of any potential impact on the natural environment – and highly committed to protecting the environment in any way possible. In fact, when it comes to the environment we believe that success comes only when there is zero impact on nature and humanity. That is why we have developed several measures to protect the natural environment, including the informed selection of materials, minimizing waste at all times and practicing efficient energy management.

Wind power is now a mainstream option for electricity generation, an essential element of the solution to climate change and a cost-effective, domestic power source for our economy. The U.S. Wind Energy Industry shattered all previous records in 2008 by installing 8,358 megawatts (MW) of new generating capacity – equivalent to powering more than 2 million American homes. These numbers are continuing to rise. The massive growth in 2008 swelled the nation’s total wind power generating capacity by 50% and channeled an investment of some $17 billion into the economy, positioning wind power as one of the leading sources of new power generation in the country today along with natural gas. The new wind projects completed in 2008 account for about 42% of the entire new power producing capacity added nationally last year, according to initial estimates, and will avoid nearly 44 million tons of carbon emissions, the equivalent of taking 7 million cars off of the road.
